The nursery of fairies…

… or what you make of it as a spectator.

This land art installation in Utrecht consists of a series of large, woven spheres of various types of branches. The original story is that fairies are born in the nest, take off and then wander around. But by filling in as little as possible, we hope that the viewer will give his or her own twist to the artwork. The music that comes from the nest adds to the experience.

An idea from ‘land artist’ Gijs was to equip the spheres with small, flickering lights. This works out pretty nicely. Together with the ‘music’, it creates a magical experience in the darkness of the night.

Listen to some of the alienated music that comes out of the ‘nest’.

One week later. The process of decay is wonderful and part of the art work.
